Independent Component 2

LITERAL
(a) I, Jeanette du Plessis, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.

(b)People who help me complete my Independent component were Sydney T., Clara A., Jada H., Dolores R., and Danielle M.

(c)Please look to the side of the blog or Click here!

It is under the Independent component 2.

(d) I made five wedding dresses the size for an doll and they were designed by five "brides" in the year. I designed and made the dress they requested (try to). Last I photoshoped the dresses onto the girls.

INTERPRETIVE

My independent component works with my three answers by, Clientele: I had five brides to which I listen to what they wanted and I have more then one way to understand what it was that they wanted for their dress. Sew and tailoring: not much tailoring but the sew of the dresses together to fit the doll. Embellishment: I had to make sure I would balance all the add on that was needed when I was drawing out the dresses that they had created.

This project lasted 30 hours because of the major of sewing of the dresses as well as the hand sewing of the embellishment that took awhile.  Every part needs to be done one at a time so the hours add up.

APPLIED

Liked stated with my Interpretive, the independent component work with my three answers to answer my EQ. The answer that I think that it helped the most would be clientele. At my mentorship I don't talk to the brides, my mentor does, so in this case I got to do one on one interviews and magazine views with them to see how they want the dresses done. When drawing before making the dresses I had confirmed the dresses by the girls to make sure that I was able to get what they were looking for in the dress. I did not get the opionon of the final product but when working with a bride on a true dress the independent component help show that you should be with the bride throught the processes.
It also helped greatly with the research done on embellishment because I got to try most of what I read on the how to with the dresses, as well got to see how best to balance the dress with the embellishment. Like an example would be working on the beading of the gowns. beading was something that I had never done before and with the mermaid I was trying hard to figure out the best way not to make the beading over crowed.

Last Day of Ind. Comp.

Photoshop complete, the colour is off because of picture quality and sleeves had to stay on because I am not that good at photoshop to make it look like they are not wear jackets.
Note: Clara's picture didn't come up so only she doll dress is showing.
Trust me the dress is white it just looks yellow because of the light use to take the picture.

This is Clara's dress.

For some reason the picture didn't show the fullness of the dress.

Jada's dress.

The picture was really dark because of the light it was used in and I was editing on PS but this was the best I could get it.

Independent Comp. Day 4 & 5

3/27/13
3/29/13

I worked on the designs of the dresses based off the interview of the girls and the magazine pictures that they commented on.

Once I had that finished I conformed with the girls the likes and the dislikes of the dress, which I was really glad to get what they had wanted. That was nice for me because it should that I had done and listened to what they had wished for the dress, which works in with part of my third answer.

Day 2 and 3 of Ind. Comp 2

3/12/2013
3/13/2013

Like the example given above, to add on to my Ind. Comp I had the "brides" go thought 3 of the bridal mags that I had and choice from the examples given what they liked best by circling or bracken the part(s) that they like. If they liked the whole dress just to write so at the bottom of the page.

This help me to understand more from the interview the styles that they like and the type of the dress that they are looking for so I have a better image of what to make for the dresses. Next shall be the design sketches.

Here are some more of what the girls did:

Independent Component 2 Plan Approval

(1) Plan for Independent Component.

For my second independent component I intended to get at least 5 "brides" and have them fill out a paper of what they want and use all that I learn to create those dresses on a small scale, like doll sized, and photoshop the final dress on to the "brides". Out of the five I will pick 3 that work the best and said brides will be part of the senior class that agree to help with the project.

(2) How will it meet 30 hours.

A small scale dress wouldn't take as much time as a full scale dress but the time it would take to use to make the dresses would be 30 if not more because you have to cut and measure and size the fabric as well as any embellishment that they require, as well as the time of dress to add and or take away the "fluff" of the fabric. Also with the photoshop will take a little time because of my lack of use for so long.

(3) Relate to working EQ.

This relates to my Working EQ because as a seamstress, I am taking on clients and making their dress and as well as taking into what I have learned from mentorship and research to make said dresses. My EQ states, "Gorgeours Dress" and in this case I would be making a few different "Gorgeous dresses".

Independent Component 1

Literal
(a) I, Jeanette du Plessis, affirm that I completed my independent component which represents 30 hours of work.
(b)Done at home, not with mentor if needed to check then my mother, Diane du Plessis, home number (909) 622-3354
(d) I worked on making bridal backs from a pattern that I made from scratch as well as put on the embellishment. Then for the rest on my others I work on the head piece of a Veil - coming up with different ideas- and I worked on embroidery the veils fabric.

Interpretive
With the bags it took me a whole day to complete 2 at most a day. It was a long and tiring process and with the Veil, the arrangement part might not seem like it would take long but it was hard to come with ideas, with what you hard and I was constantly changing the ideas I hard. With the embroidery, it took longer then it might have because I was unable to use a rim to hold the fabric, so I had to to and embroidery itself takes time to complete.
For pictures please look at older post, Thank you

Applied
Well as a seamstresses, you need to be able to sew and with the bags it really should it. I had to make patterns, cut and sew. With the bags I sewed by both machine and by hand, both of which a seamstress should know how to do. As with the Bags and Veil had to do with embellishment. Working with add or taking away embellishment is what a part of a seamstress and with the bags added embellishment that i though would best suit them and with the blue one like I had put for the cation that i had changed the ribbon to pearls because the ribbon hadn't suited it as well. For the Veil had to put one together is need to know from the topics of matching the wedding dress and in cases having the embellishment match. With the simple veil i add embroidery from a design that I chose with colours that I view would work for colours of the wedding.

Day 4 Of Independent Component 1/4/2013

I work on the embroidery of the veil, I'm not that good at embroidery and it is a talent that takes a long time to complete. The first pattern I put on the veil, I didn't take a picture of because it wasn't what I was going for, and I didn't like it. ( My mother said it looked like a snake >u<)

The second pattern I did came out a little better, but over all it was hard with out a rim to hold the fabric!

I tried! bad picture quality too, Sorry!

Day 3 Of Independent Component 1/2/2013

Well it has been a while then when I lasted posted but for this part I started to work with the Veil!
This was my beginning layout table with what I had to start with

This was my first one which I basically just put all the fake flowers on for fun so that is why it looks so bad!
I came back from getting really flowers from outside and started working with them.

This was the first Veil made with the fresh flowers and it only has fresh flowers on it.

This one was one that I happen to like that I made, they are fake can you tell?
This one has both fake and read and the green plant used in it is really carrots top!

This is one of the ones with trim that I made, I didn't like any of the ones with trim that I made that much!

Senior Project Update

(1) What are you currently doing in your independent component?

I am making bridal bags and bridal headbands.

(2) What is a recent piece of research (article, interview, or audio-visual) that have you reviewed you would say was significant in helping you understand where to go next in your senior project?  The piece of research should be something you reviewed in November.  Please explain what you learned and where are you going next because of this piece of research.

With my mentor I learned about how to measure right and I feel that is important because it helps with alterations later on. Also another  was looking at the European School Of Design Pattern Design book because they gave a lot of help how to make patterns as well as tips and pointers and what you should do.

(3) Provide evidence from your independent component or the piece of research as something you recently did.  For example, a photo of something you working on for your independent component or your notes from the video you watched.

Look Below at the older posts!

Day 2 Of Independent Component 11/12/2012

I ended today with two new bags done. The bags done today are bigger then yesterdays and the blue one is bigger then the white one done. To do that I made two more bases. With the white one I tested to see how they were without a inner stuffing and designed that they worked better with the stuffing.

The ribbon was changed to pearls.

The yellow one has no stuffing.

11/14/2012
Today was the silent action that the first set of bags went to and I was happy to hear that they all were bided on and sold. ( At the same type I was hoping the pink one wouldn't go because I wanted to keep it but I'm still happy that they went! )

Day 1 Of Independent Component 11/11/2012

I started with the making of the bridal bags by first shopping for fabric and some sewing machine oil.

After comes the setting up: Taking out the needed fabric, the machine and anything else that's needed like add ons. (ribbons, pearls, ect)

I made my own base for the cut outs based on a clutch bag I had and begain with the cuting of fabrics which in turn become sewing of all the parts.

I work 9 and a half hours and ending around 11pm, I was tired but I compeleted two clutches

Independent Component 1 Plan Approval

1) Description on what you plan to do for the Independent Component.

I was planing on taking a class if I could find one that ended before January, and if not I was planing on either doing it as more mentoring or coming up with something with my mentor.

2) Describe (in detail) how you will meet the 30 hours.

If I take the class, then I will learn more about my topic through the classes as well as complete all the work giving. If Its by working more with my mentor or what we come up with, then it will be learning more on what I have been learning as well as using what I have learned.

3) Relate the Independent Component to your Working EQ.

The Independent Component will relate to my EQ because I am learning more on how technology is working now and how companies and teachers and users are using it and how they wish it to grow, which is part of my working EQ.
